Assessment

An Occupational Therapy (OT) assessment is the first step in understanding how we can best support you or your child to thrive in everyday life. Our assessments are designed to build a complete picture of strengths, preferences, and areas where extra support may be helpful.
What to expect:
During the assessment, we take time to get to know you or your child — what’s working well, what’s most important to you, and what feels challenging. We may use a mix of conversation, observation, and activities, along with standardised tools where appropriate.
We look at things like:
-
Daily routines (home, school, work, community)
-
Motor skills, coordination, and independence
-
Sensory processing and regulation
-
Attention, organisation, and problem-solving
-
Social and play skills (for children)
-
Confidence, participation, and well-being
Our approach is strengths-based:
We highlight what you or your child does best and use those strengths to build skills and strategies. We also take into account personal preferences — whether that’s learning through play, hands-on activities, or structured routines.
Why it matters:
An OT assessment gives you clear, practical recommendations to support independence and participation in meaningful activities. You’ll receive a tailored report with strategies and, if needed, a therapy plan designed to help you or your child feel more confident and capable at home, school, work, and in the community.
